The Salvation Army of Utica, NY celebrates 125 years of service at a banquet at Hart's Hill Inn, Whitesboro, on May 10, 2010. Congressman Michael Arcuri and Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente were present to present proclamations and speak of the untiring work of the Army. Guest speaker was Donna Donovan, publisher of The Observer-Dispatch. Also giving remarks were Maj. Donald Lance, commander of the Empire State Division, and Maj. Ronald Lugiano, divisional development secretary. Captains Frank and Shana Picciotto presented the Humanitarian Award to Operation Sunshine, and Awards of Appreciation to long-time Advisory Board members Bill Heiderich and Jack Linder (not present). A brass ensemble of officers and soldiers from around the state performed, and Evangeline Applin performed a sacred dance. |
